About Gary The Turkey

Gary the turkey was bold, curious, and adventurous. He lived near 52nd and Kalamazoo street. For the past two years, he stalked the mailman, chased cars, and waited for the school bus. Now because of this Gary often walked down busy streets causing traffic backups. This became a part of his personality. Just taking his time and enjoying his day. I once took a video of Gary off 52nd. He was taking his usual strolls on the crosswalks and all of a sudden he was being chased by a puppy on a leash. “Run Gary, run.” He ran past my van and down the street. He was just something positive and humorous. Kids and adults alike looked forward to seeing this crazy bird every day. Within a few weeks, he was moved to a different location. He did eventually come back though, except on a busier side of town. One day he got too close and was hit alongside the highway.
